Speaking of Books: Conversations with Campus Authors features book talks by faculty authors from the University of Maryland. On April 27th from 3:30 to 5:30, the event will feature Nancy Raquel Mirabal's book, Suspect Freedoms.

Suspect Freedoms is the first book to explore Cuban racial and sexual politics in New York during the 19th and 20th centuries. Nancy Raquel Mirabal delves into a rich cache of primary sources, archival documents, literary texts, club records, newspapers, photographs, and oral histories to show how Cubans were authors of their own experiences, organizing movements, publishing texts, and establishing important political, revolutionary, and social clubs.
