Please join us for a screening of the new PBS special on the underwater recovery of the crew of the Tulsamerican, a U.S. B-24 bomber that crashed off the coast of Croatia during World War II. We will be joined by special guest, Dr. Thomas Holland, Director of Partnership and Innovation for The Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA). The POW/MIA Accounting Agency has the responsibility of providing for the fullest possible accounting of missing US military personnel from wars and other conflicts.

Interested students and faculty are cordially invited to this presentation, which will include introductory remarks by Dr. Thomas Holland who will speak to the rewarding work that is being done to bring back our missing soldiers from around the world.

The University of Maryland is currently a Strategic Partner with DPAA to assist in similar recoveries through a field school program called the Forensic Aviation Archaeology: Recovery of a World War II Aircraft Crash Site. In Summer 2019, the field school is headed to Germany to begin a new recovery. Information about the summer field school will be provided by Marilyn R. London and Adam Fracchia from the UMD Department of Anthropology.

Light refreshments will be served.
