Several news outlets have recently covered the work of MAA graduate Amelia Jamison (2014). She co-authored a paper covering Russian influence on the vaccination debate in the United States. The findings from the team of researchers revealed that Russian bots and trolls have been responsible for tweets that are both anti-vaccination and pro-vaccination. Ultimately, this study used the issue of vaccination to show how Russian trolls are creating discord in the United States, discord which may extend far beyond just the issue of vaccination.
