Brian is a career member of the U.S. Department of State’s Senior Foreign Service. As Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. embassies in Rwanda, Uganda, and Morocco, as well as at the U.S. Consulate General in Cracow, Poland, Brian led U.S. engagement with local opinion leaders and youth audiences through targeted exchanges, grants, cultural programs, and press and social media campaigns. Brian completed additional overseas assignments in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Poland, and South Africa, and served as Press and Public Diplomacy Officer for Afghanistan and Pakistan in the State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. Across his diplomatic career, Brian has overseen several tangible and intangible heritage projects supported through the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, including restoration of the citadel in Herat, Afghanistan and documentation of the musical traditions of Afghanistan. While in Rabat, he oversaw the process of Morocco’s entry into a Cultural Property Agreement with the United States and co-organized with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the first regional conference on cultural heritage protection of religious communities. Brian holds a B.A. in International Relations from Michigan State University, an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Denver, and an MBA from Cracow Economic University.
