Dr. Christina Getrich’s work as a faculty mentor is being honored and recognized by the Philip Merrill Presidential Scholars program. Philip Merrill Presidential Scholars Program recognizes students’ academic excellence and the important role that teachers and faculty have as mentors.

Rachel Smith, a rising senior in the Individual Studies Program, was selected as a 2017-2018 Philip Merrill Presidential Scholar and she identified Dr. Getrich as the faculty mentor who has had the greatest impact on her academic achievement.

To celebrate this honor and to recognize the impact of teaching and mentoring on the academic success of Philip Merrill Presidential scholars, Dr. Getrich has been invited to a celebration for scholars, teachers, and faculty that will be held at the University House in November.
