Dr. Paul Shackel has a new article entitled "Structural Violence and the Industrial Landscape"  published in the International Journal of Heritage Studies. This article focuses on the continuing existence of the structural violence of the coal mining industry in Northeastern Pennsylvania and the impacts on the heritage of the region. He also focuses on how the current tourism efforts to memorialize this industry pose a danger to the contemporary communities still impacted by the history of the industry.
