UMD has launched Maryland’s first DNA lab focused on genetic anthropology, led by Professor Miguel Vilar. The lab gives students hands-on experience analyzing DNA to trace human migration and cultural history. A second lab is set to open soon and will study ancient DNA from fossil remains.
