Congratulations to our recent Predoctoral Fellowship Recipients

Our graduate students have been working hard in developing research proposals that will help fund their dissertation research. Christine Hesed, Courtney Hofman, and Melissa Stevens are our first PhD students to be awarded prestigious pre-doctoral fellowships that will help support their dissertation work.  Congratulations to these scholars who are doing exemplary work as they pursue research that will make significant contributions to our field. 


 


 


 




 


Christine Hesed has been awarded the EPA STAR fellowship. This award includes three years of support for her dissertation research - Social-ecological resilience and adaptation on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The award includes tuition, an annual stipend, and an allowance for research expenses.



 


Courtney Hofman has been awarded the Smithsonian Predoctoral Fellowship.   This prestigious award include tuition remission from the Graduate School, an annual stipend from the Smithsonian Institution, and an allowance for research expenses.


 


Melissa Stevens has been awarded a Doctoral Dissertation Research Grant from NSF to conduct her research in Tanzania, Africa on the residents' perspective on cultural tourism.
