Staggs, Jess
Bio
Jess is an environmental anthropology PhD student studying the community impacts of energy transitions and how to accomplish a successful in-situ energy transition. Her focus is on communities which are or have been reliant on fossil fuel jobs but which are transitioning into jobs based on renewable energy or sustainable production.
Her current projects include a study of environmental health concerns among UMD graduate students, evaluating the plans of DC, MD, and VA area gas stations over the next two decades, and an exploration of labor archetypes' influence on economic and energy transitions.
