Steiwer, Fiona
Bio
Fiona is a third-year PhD student working with Dr. Stephen A. Brighton. Her research interests include the history and historical archaeology of the modern world. Specializations include anthropological approaches to the archaeology of trauma, collective memory and heritage studies, and landscape theory.
Before joining the University of Maryland, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and International Relations from American University, where she researched the ethical concerns of the long-term storage of human remains. Ms. Steiwer completed her Master's in Applied Anthropology from the University of Maryland in 2025.
