Bio
Megan Flynn is a graduate student in the Cultural Heritage and Resource Management program at the University of Maryland. She earned her Bachelor's in Anthropology at the University of Southern Mississippi in May of 2021. Since then, Megan has been working in the private CRM sector for six years working on an array of archaeological sites that include Phase I, II, and III excavations, pedestrian surveys, data management, and report writing. Megan has put her shovel in the ground and boots through the mud in Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, and walked across large swaths of the Great Plains of Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Montana.
Having worked in CRM in multiple regions of the United States, Megan is interested in understanding how both new and long standing methodology and theory shape the archaeological work we do on the ground, as well as becoming an active advocate for precontact and historic preservation across the country. She is currently working on increasing her technical skills and knowledge of North American precontact and historic archaeology through various archaeological projects that include Tribal Cultural Specialists to aid in a more comprehensive and holistic understanding of our shared history.
