• Additional Funding Opportunities

In some years, the Department of Anthropology may require additional Teaching Assistants for classroom instruction or have additional funding available to support graduate students in Graduate Assistant positions. Access to this funding is competitive. Applications will be reviewed by the Graduate Committee who will make a recommendation to the Chair regarding who should fill the open GA position/s. Announcements of additional GA positions will be sent to current anthropology graduate students via email.

Teaching opportunities for anthropology PhD students who have completed their area exams are also sometimes available. PhD students who would like to submit an application to serve as an instructor of record should refer to the complete policy for Teaching Opportunities for Doctoral Students. Applications should sent be to Dr. Jen Shaffer (lshaffe1@umd.edu), and include a Teaching Interest Cover Sheet, two letters of support, and a teaching statement.
